About Us

Continental Paving began in the 1970's as a family owned & operated trucking business that steadily expanded into various related activities such as site development, utility installations, and eventually paving. In 1980, Rick and Mark Charbonneau incorporated the company.

The 1980's was the decade of rapid growth as the US economy flourished. Continental Paving expanded its fleet of equipment, and took on greater challenges. In 1986, the first asphalt plant was put into operation at the Londonderry facility. In 1988, the corporate headquarters was relocated from Hudson, NH to a new office and maintenance facility at the Londonderry location.

Continental Paving, Inc. has enjoyed progressive growth despite the occasional dips in the economy by being flexible in its business plan and having a broad economic foundation. Continental Paving's operation as an asphalt retailer and trucking company resulted in the establishment as a disposal facility for petroleum contaminated soils. The move came at the onset of the regional charge to cleanup soil contamination by petroleum fuels at gas stations, and the demand was high for processing and disposal of the contaminated soils. The contaminated soils were processed through the asphalt production where the petroleum contaminates were burned off and the inert soils incorporated into the asphalt produced.

Although the processing of contaminated soils has been phased out of the operation at Continental Paving, current diversification includes:

  portable aggregate crushing operations

  roadway/pavement milling and reclaiming operations

asphalt production and sales out of the two stationary and one portable asphalt plants

aggregate production and sales from its Litchfield Sand and Gravel operation as well as the Continental Paving-owned and operated stone quarry and crushing facility

  equipment and trucking rentals

Continental Paving remains active in the construction industry with commercial and industrial site development, asphalt paving, and trucking. Projects include commercial building sites, residential housing developments, roadway construction from town roads to interstate highways, and airport construction.

We pride ourselves on the efficiency of our operations and the quality of work we produce for our customers. We continue to try to improve on our past achievements to provide services better than the industry standard.
