What is a portal?

Available to SERIOUS  users a portal is an alternative to a page that displays a list of items linked to their corresponding sub pages.  Almost like a table of contents to the information listed in its section.

A great example of a portal is a news section.  You would create a news "portal" and add stories to it.  The portal would be the page that has all of the story titles on it sorted by date linked to the full story.

type of content that displays links to it's immediate children below it's body content. It's often used for News, Press Releases, or anything kind of repository that would benefit from not having to update links on a parent page every time another item is added or edited.

This is what the news portal would look like.

The image you attach to the story will show up as a thumbnail on the portal page and the Content Summary (which is optional) will show up as a lead in to the full story.

Other examples of portal might be a Frequently Asked Questions portal like the one you're reading right now, a portal for job openings with links to full descriptions and requirements, a portal for features of a product, a portal for services, etc.

This is an extremely powerful feature because it can be used to created just about anything.  In the past you would have had to pay to have each one of these tools built separately.  This one feature can actually create an unlimited amount of features customized for your specific business.
